Rotations (2024)

A playful collection consisting of two large beech wood vases and a hanging mobile that are to be used with local meadow grasses. The rotating mobile mimics traditional grass drying techniques and together with the large floor vases highlight the beauty of the grass. A poetry occurs when the massive turned material marries the fragility of the grass and invites the viewer to experience parts of their local environment in a new way.

As part of the project, DES & DO! by S-P-O-K and Form & Folk. In collaboration with PUUTS Interior.

“All things round”

- Gaston Bachelard

‘Rotations’ began whilst exploring Magdalena’s woodturning workshop, filled with ‘all things round’, where I was reminded of a chapter in Gaston Bachelard’s book, The Poetics of Space. In his chapter ‘The Phenomenology of Roundness’, Bachelard presents the idea that being is round and experienced through round shapes.

A rotating mobile that offers an alternative way to traditional grass drying techniques. Inviting the the viewer to experience the beauty of meadow grasses.
